[edit] Producer notes
The open is STILL not done. In an act of desperation I have put out a call to 2 additional animators to see if one of them can rush something together for us. I doubt it will get done before the next live show, but I'll be making a push to make it happen.
This show will feature slightly tweaked lower third graphics to compensate for color shifts on HDTVs. The bottom bar will be black as opposed to navy. We will also be developing a dummy lower third for when there is nothing to show, which for 4.01 we simply used the nameplate. However, that doesn't really fit all the time.
The OnSocial plugin probably won't be ready for quite a bit as we have it developed. Until then we will mention items in the chat room live, but won't be able to display them. While this does take away from the show in the short term, I think once the OnSocial plugin is done it will work great in the long term.
One thing I will be working on is adding more comments from the community in the show in the form of full-screen graphics. These comments may come from YouTube, Spacevidcast IRC logs, Twitter, etc. and are *not* comments made during the show itself. The idea behind the live shows isn't a weekly news recap show but rather a community show where space geeks can get together and geek out. What better way to do that than to incorporate as many different space geeks in to the show as possible.
Additional lights have been purchased and should make their first appearance on this episode (although bad weather may delay the delivery of these lights until after the show airs). These two new lights will be added in to the background to give the entire back of the set a deep blue hue. Lights from the Eden Prairie studio did make it up to the Watertown studio when we first switched to the updated set on episode 3.28. However since this required tearing down the Eden Prairie studio each week and then setting it back up, by episode 3.34 we had stopped this process and had no light in the background. Unlike previous episodes these new lights will be added to the light grid and flown overhead whereas before they were simply on stands pointing at the background. The new lights are Lowel Pro lights with 250 watt lamps in each. Both new lights have a 2 leaf barndoor and will use Rosco Blue #80 gels to create the blue effect. These are brighter than the old Lowel Pro lights used in the studio currently which are at 150 watts each. 4 Additional Lowel Pro lamps at 250 watts as well as 1 to 2 Lowel Tota lights at 500 to 750 watts with softboxes and grids are being looked at for key lights in future episodes.
