- (EM) I ran across this article and thought it fit with your last show. Gemini landing on the Moon not Apollo. Check it out. CitizensInSpace.com -Bob E
- (YT) Home computers may not have had happened until a lot later without the space program. -Patchuchan
- (YT) Decades of manned space flight have shown that humans are horribly unfit to live in space. We should now direct the world (very scarce) space research fundings to unmanned missions, especially those that like Kepler could find Earth-like planets in other star systems. Human space missions should be conducted very slowly and they should be regarded as an enterprise to be pursued during a period of decades or even centuries. -237Michael
- (YT) Do we really deserve to have a backup to the human race? We don't exactly have a stellar record when it comes to managing ourselves as well as the management of our own Earth. While investing in in space may ultimately provide the answers to these problems, I don't see the public willing to make the changes needed so we deserve to be an interplanetary race. Let the comet come. We haven't earned the right to an escape pod just yet. -Tubeglowfun
- (YT) I think you guys are ignoring the influence of Apollo on American society. The forging of the US's identity as the foremost space faring nation was founded with Apollo, and so often the maintaining of our space exploration programs funding and even the birth of our commercial space industry since has come from that identity. Space geeks might get psyched about orbital rendezvous but I think the country at large needed something bigger to fall in love with manned space exploration. -monokhem
- (YT) Without Apollo there would also be no Space Shuttle and no massive NASA bureaucracy. Gemini would still have occurred and the military would have MOL and maybe Dynasoar. There would have been US & Soviet civilian and military Space Stations in the 70's. The EELVs would happen in the 80's. There may have been some moonshot maybe ,private in the 90's. Without the huge parasitic NASA bureaucracy commercial space may have been better off. -RalphButtigieg
